Pulp blurb.
From Paper pulp to Pulp magazines, Pulp Fiction (often referred to as “the pulps”) were inexpensive fiction magazines that were published at a large scale from 1896 to the 1950s. Pulp Fiction movie, which itself is an ode to the classic Pulp Noir/Fiction genre. Pulp is also a novel by Los Angeles poet and writer Charles Bukowski.

Ultra Pulp take a place on and beyond the pulp, as a contemporary attempt to explore the graphic arts discipline. The studio was founded to offer direct access to the art of design and its capacity to transform, bring joy and provoke thought.

Frederic Matuszek is a designer, art director who lives and works in Paris, France. After having studied design, his professional activities focus on architecture, home interior, color design, object design, then mainly on graphic design, visual communication and interaction design. Next to his practice he worked on interactive projects such as the graphic piano dedicated to new media poetics.

After a decade working as chief creative officer for meetic & match Europe, he established the Ultrapulp studio to explore and spread the influence of graphic arts, as a chance to focus on the question of art emancipated from his function of being decorative, and fulfill his own artistic evolution in the 21st Century.
